HighEdWeb New England

On Monday, March 18, 2013, LITS and Mount Holyoke College hosted the first ever HighEdWeb New England Regional Conference, an event which attracted 150 attendees from fifty-six institutions and a number of businesses to see peers present on ways that higher education can make more effective use of the web.

HighEdWeb New England took place at the Willits-Hallowell Center, with a post-conference reception in the Information Commons. Twenty-three presentations were delivered on topics ranging from content strategy and governance to social media, and from responsive design to accessible and engaging online video. More details and links can be found in the conference program, and additional photos of the event are posted to the conference Flickr account.

This event was coordinated by a committee which included Sven Aas and Jason Proctor of Mount Holyoke's LITS Web Team along with Sarah Ryder of Hampshire College, Cindy Sabato and Kerri Hicks of the University of Rhode Island, Alana Riley and Dan Demmons of Providence College, and Bill Dennen of Wheaton College. LITS Student Web Programming Assistants Qudsia Aziz, Malosree Maitra, Kelsey Bentham, and Monica Chelliah helped to organize resources for the conference, and Qudsia and Malosree gave up a day of break to work at the conference and help keep everything running smoothly.

The event was further supported by LITS staff members Krista Denno, Peggy Stevens, Fred Kass and Kevin Slate of Networking, and Mike Urgo and Chris Ward of Media Resources, and many other Mount Holyoke colleagues.
